Working with Communities: Participatory Research for Policy Change - starts 14th July 2026

This is a highly practical course - you will be required to identify and engage with a relevant community through several activities, to try out the methods and tools that you learn on this course.

Course duration: 9 weeks

Course objectives:

  • Explain the principles and importance of participatory research.  
  • Analyse how communities, stakeholders, and collaborators can engage with research addressing complex challenges.  
  • Apply participatory approaches and methods appropriate to different research contexts. 
  • Develop effective strategies to support the funding, communication, and long-term use of participatory research.

  • Researchers who are interested in designing and carrying out research that makes an impact and policy change.
  • Researchers who are interested in designing and carrying out research using community based or participatory research approaches.
