- Biography:
- I am an accomplished educator, farmer, researcher and agribusiness consultant. I believe that the sure strategy for agricultural productivity, poverty reduction and food security/nutrition in the developing countries is that which addresses improved farmer education, climate change information and mechanization for smallholders. The strategies must also focus on attracting youth to agriculture in these regions in view of the rising average age for farmers; and also that which deals with sustainable management of the impact of climate change and environmental concerns whose policies are linked to food and nutrition security and rural development. I am a practising dairy farmer with more than a life-time span in dairy her management, having been raised on a cattle farm and later on, settling as a dairy farmer, a dairy products processing and marketing entrepreneur and dairy cooperative promoter. My dairy farm is on 25 acres, with 31 head of dairy stock, 9 milkers, 12 in-calf heifers, six bullying heifers, two bullocks and two calves, all under full stable-feeding management system. I grow maize for silage, hay grass, lucerne, bracharia and napier grass to provide green fodder. Apart from this, I am a Marketing and Management Lecturer at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa’s Gaba Campus in Eldoret, where I have lectured for the last 12 years. I hold a Doctoral degree in Business Management (Marketing) from Moi University, an MSc in International Community Economic Development (Micro-Enterprise Development) from the University of Southern New Hampshire, USA, and Bachelor of Business Management from Moi University, Eldoret. I have extensive practise as a farmer, and have been a member of the Global Farmer Network since 2009. I have used my experience and knowledge extensively to write articles in support of science and research for use by farmers, including biotechnology as well as other scientific thrusts that contribute to farmers’ access to new technologies to improve production and productivity. I also have wide experience both in the public service and in the corporate world, having served in the government as a Customs Officer, and as a District Coordinator (Uasin Gishu) in the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission (CKRC) and as a Marketing Executive in the Coca-Cola Company (Rift Valley Bottlers). 1. doi: 10.36346/sarjhss.2020.v02i05.007 2. https://www.canr.msu.edu/resources/a-farm-gate-to-consumer-value-chain-analysis-of-kenya-s-maize-marketing-system 3. http://www.internationaljournalcorner.com/index.php/theijbm/article/view/125426/86439 4. http://www.internationaljournalcorner.com/index.php/theijbm/article/view/137591/96580 5. http://www.eajournals.org/wp-content/uploads/The-Effect-of-Automated-Car-Park-System-on-Revenue-Collection-in-Busia-County-Government-Kenya.pdf 6.
