- Biography:
- Wasswa Shafik (Member, IEEE) is a computer scientist, information technologist, and principal investigator at the Dig Connectivity Research Laboratory (DCRLab). He received a B.Sc. degree with honour rank in Technology Technology from Ndejje University, and an M.Sc. degree in Information Technology Engineering (MIT), from Yazd University, Islamic Republic of Iran. He is an associate researcher at the Computer Science department, Network interconnectivity Lab at Yazd University, Islamic Republic of Iran, and at Information Sciences, Prince Sultan University, Saudi Arabia. He is the author and co-author of hundreds of papers in IEEE/ACM/IET/CRC press/IGI-Global/Wiley/Springer/Elsevier journals, conference papers, books and book chapters. He received many awards; the best M.Sc. student award from Yazd University, Iran. His areas of interest are Computer Vision, Smart Agriculture, Health Computing, Explainable AI, Security and Privacy. Shafik is the chair/co-chair/program chair of some Scopus/EI conferences. Also, academic editor/ associate editor for set of indexed journals (Scopus journals' quartile ranking). He is the founder and lead investigator of Dig Connectivity Research Laboratory (DCR-Lab) since 2019, the managing Executive director of Asmaah Charity Organisation (ACO).
