My working career is a laboratory scientist who has specialised in Microbiology of viral diseases after postgraduate degree in Master of Science (Msc.) research in FMD. During Msc. Training I conducted research on Spatial and temporal Distribution of Foot and mouth disease virus (FMD) in eastern zone of Tanzania. Out of my Msc studies I reveal four FMD serotypes circulating in the eastern zone and propose inclusion of that information in the FMD control strategy in Tanzania (Mwanandota, J.J et al 2013. After Msc. studies, I conducted research titled investigation of cattle blindness in Kisarawe and Kibaha District of Tanzania. The latter research reveals multiple causes of blindness in cattle. I have an experience in disease diagnostic research where I worked for six month as research fellow in validation of (Loop isothermal amplification) LAMP assay for capripox diagnosis. In that research we compare two LAMP assay using samples from apparent health animals and clinically sick animals and reveal its application in detection of subclinical cases of Lumpy skin diseases (Mwanandota J.J et al 2018). Using knowledge from that research fellowship I was able to perform phylogenetic analysis of parapox virus from clinical specimen collected from goat. Mwanandota, J. J.et al 2016). I am Currently enrolled at Sokoine University of Agriculture to undertake PhD in Veterinary Medicine.
