Biography:
I am a marine scientist working for the Scottish Government. I completed my PhD in physical oceanography 36 years ago, and since then have been working professionally in governmental marine science, providing research and advice. Areas I have been involved in include the environmental impact of aquaculture, fisheries and the oil and gas industry. I have been involved in climate change studies and many marine monitoring programmes. More recently I have been interested in marine litter, marine invasive species, blue carbon and carbon capture and storage. I've written more than 40 peer-reviewed papers, and have been on the editorial board of the ICES Journal of Marine Science. I regularly review for journals such as Marine Pollution Bulletin. I would love to help an early career scientist in marine science, and am very willing to help improve any documents or draft papers.
