Work
- Subjects:
- Life Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences
- Research Keywords:
- Life Sciences, Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Cardiology, Renal
- Collaboration interests:
- My research interest is in Biochemical and Molecular Pharmacology, focusing on the regulation of ion transport ATPases (particularly Na/K-ATPase) and intracellular signaling pathways, as well as the pharmacological characterization of drug candidates
- Biography:
- I am a biochemical pharmacologist of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). I did the Master in Pharmacology and PhD in Biophysics in 2001 at UFRJ and a postdoctoral training in the University of Toledo, USA, working on P-type ATPases and the modulation of Na/K-ATPase-mediated signaling transduction by cardiotonic steroids (CTS), a class of specific Na/K-ATPase natural ligands . I am now a permanent member of the Graduate Program of Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry aiming at the pharmacological effects of CTS and Na/K-ATPase-mediated signaling. I also work on the pharmacological screening in P-type ATPases for the development of new drug candidates.
