Biography:
Qamar Abbas Jafri is a PhD candidate at the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies (GUSS) in RMIT University Australia. He is working on his PhD research project that relates to social capital (civic networks) and their role in peacebuilding among interethnic and inter-religious communities in Pakistan. The project investigates the spatial aspects of conflict urbanism (the cultural, infrastructural, and neighbourhood damages in cities) in Pakistan. He holds certificates/training in project management, research commercialization, creative and critical thinking, and theory and practice of conflict and mediation. Mr Jafri received his Master of science degree in sociology from International Islamic University Islamabad, Pakistan. He has worked as a lecturer sociology, research associate and project officer in different organizations. His research interests include interdisciplinary research methods, social capital theory, peace theory, ethnic conflicts, religious extremism and violence, community cohesion, and geospatial research (network analysis).
