- Research Keywords:
- A seasoned researcher and experienced university lecturer. I have been actively involved in the teaching of Chemistry courses and active research work for 9 years. I have academic and professional experiences in the following broad areas; general chemistry, isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds from natural sources, plant volatiles and aroma constituents, anti-inflammatory analysis of medicinal plants.
- Collaboration interests:
- I will like to collaborate with research groups working on medicinal plants and natural products. I am also interested in groups that develop chromatographic methods for extraction, isolation, and characterisation of Cannabinoids from Cannabis.
- Biography:
- Opeyemi is a Natural Product and Analytical Chemist with speciality in spectroscopy and pharmacology. With an experience that spans for more than 10 years locally and internationally. My research has focused on three broad areas within the concept of Natural Products Chemistry, Medicinal Plant Analysis, Material Chemistry, and Analytical chemistry. My publication in peer-reviewed journals is 32.The areas are (i) Identification, purification and structural elucidation of potential bioactive compounds in plant materials that may be of importance for the promotion of health (ii) Isolation of volatiles and non-volatiles from plant sources by conventional methods and characterization of their aroma and flavor constituents; (iii) Evaluation of the pharmacological potentials of plant materials and implementation of in vitro and in vivo assays for bioassay-guided fractionation of plant extracts for assessment of IC50, LD50 and ED50, anti- inflammatory, analgesic etc values of isolated compounds; (iv) Synthesis, characterization and application of nanoparticles.
