- Dr. Mapayi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife where she is currently pursuing a PhD in the same field. At present, she is a Senior Lecturer and consultant psychiatrist at OAU/ OAU Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife. She obtained a West African College of Physicians Fellowship in Psychiatry after her residency training at the OAUTHC, Ile-Ife. She has specialized training in REBT (Albert Ellis Institute). She is the coordinator for the annual short course on Adolescent Health in Sub Saharan Africa organized by the LSHTM, OAU, UNFPA, WHO and UNICEF. She is an associate Lecturer at the Center for Child and Adolescent Health, UCH, Ibadan and the Center for Gender and Development Studies, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti. She has worked closely with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) and UNFPA in their effort to promote the health of adolescents in Nigeria through training of adolescent desk officers. She was a contributor at the development of the FMOH Clinical protocol and the National training manual for the health and development of adolescent and young people in Nigeria. Her core research interests have been in the areas of women's and Adolescent mental health and gender based violence. Until recently, she was the Director of Programs and still serves as a volunteer to the Women against Rape Sexual Harassment and Exploitation (WARSHE) group, a civil society that provides services to abused women and currently the secretary to the Sexual Violence Action Group (SVAG), OAU. She is a volunteer member and facilitator for the Foundation for the care and resettlement of the mentally ill. She is an advocate for gender equity, women empowerment and a rights based approach to health interventions.
