Biography:
I am a biologist that works with corn breeders in the search of disease resistance in maize (and I did some studies in Arabidopsis plants). I did a master in genetics (Argentina) and a PhD ( France) in cellular and molecular biology. The main objective of my research is to understand how plants interact with pathogens and develop durable genetic resistance. I have always been fascinated with concepts like SAR, HR, resistance, aggressiveness and virulence of pathogens. Our studies have been largely focused on genetic resistance to ear rot and associated mycotoxins in corn. I used to work ( and I still do) with quantitative genetics and gene introgression from maize landraces to modern corn. I am now interested in the mechanisms of resistance (and associated genes metabolites) and the study of pathogens. In this sense I went to France to work ( PhD) in reverse genetics and metabolomics of plant-pathogen interactions (mainly on Arabidopsis). Now I'm interested in multiple disease resistance that can be effective for more than one disease. I'm putting all my knowledge and experience it, approaches integrating forward and reverse genetics.
