- Sanjoy Kar is an information specialist at the Institute of Development Studies Kolkata (IDSK), a social science research center in India that is recognized by the ICSSR. Following the completion of his postgraduate degree in social science, he pursued his second postgraduate degree in LIS from Vidyasagar University in India, where he was ranked first in first class. He has been carrying out the responsibilities of conducting library services on modern lines at the Institute of Development Studies Kolkata (IDSK) for more than five years. He is also involved in research, teaching, and numerous professional activities with deep concern and commitment. He has written a couple of course modules (Digital Humanities) for the Master of Library and Information Science program at Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU), Kolkata. He is an academic counselor and has served as a guide and supervisor for NSOU and IGNOU MLISc dissertations. He has published several articles in national and international journals, seminars, and conferences. During the quiz competition of the ASIS&T 24-Hour Global Conference 2022, he won first place. His areas of interest are Research Evaluation Metrics (Scientometrics, Bibliometrics), Research Data Curation & Management, Open Science and Open Innovation, Digital Humanities, Metadata, Digital Curation and Management, Digital Archives and Data Literacy. Currently he is engaged in a research project entitled "Salt Lake: exploring a 50-year history." He is also a member of several professional associations and learned societies, including ASIS&T, RDA, ILA, Council of the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He has served on the committees for publications and workshop planning, as well as technical support groups. He has served as a reviewer for prestigious journals in the field of information science, such as Global Knowledge, Memory, and Communication (Emerald). His ultimate goal is to improve how the services of academic researchers are managed and valued, and he is very interested in making R&D organizations better at digital scholarship and data curation.
