ABOUT THE HOST:

Dr Tracy Zhandire is a researcher at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, based in the College of Humanities. She holds a PhD in Public Health and has a strong foundation in the social sciences. Her work is inherently interdisciplinary, integrating perspectives from public health, social sciences, and informatics to address complex health and societal challenges. Her research interests are grounded in public health and the social sciences, with a particular focus on Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) and contextually relevant research in African settings. She is passionate about mixed-methods research and advocates for its use as a rigorous and transformative approach to understanding complex health and social issues, drawing on both quantitative and qualitative methods to generate research that is grounded in lived realities. Dr Zhandire has contributed to multidisciplinary and international research projects and is committed to advancing collaborative, impactful, and methodologically robust research.
