AuthorAID members, associates and embedding partners meet for project meeting in Sri Lanka

By Sian Harris | Nov. 23, 2015

The annual AuthorAID project meeting will take place from 25-27 November 2015 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The meeting will be attended by AuthorAID project team members, associates and selected embedding partners from Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Kenya, Vietnam and Ghana.

“The meeting aims to discuss and develop the strategy for the AuthorAID project as well as updating other team members about our work. Our embedding partners will be joining the meeting for the first time, so this will be an excellent opportunity to discuss and learn more about the AuthorAID research-writing projects in their institutions,” says Julie Walker, AuthorAID Director at INASP.

The first session of the project meeting will discuss strategy and fundraising for AuthorAID and INASP. This will be followed by poster presentations from embedding partners and group work that will explore key learning and opportunities for collaboration. The meeting will also discuss the best ways to work with Southern partners and include other groups such as policy makers, librarians, editors, NGO workers and practitioners in AuthorAID’s work. The last session will focus on gender, including some of the key learning from the gender workshop held in Tanzania in August 2015 and a presentation on gender issues in Sri Lanka.

The second day will focus on discussing key learning from AuthorAID online courses as well as considering ideas for developing capacity in this area. It will be followed by a discussion on recent changes to the AuthorAID website. The other sessions will cover the AuthorAID survey results and the findings from sustainability reviews. The last session will focus on strengthening communications in AuthorAID.

The final day will start by exploring the new mentoring strategy as well as brainstorming ideas on its implementation. It will also look for opportunities to promote mentoring within the partner institutions. The meeting will end with a session for reflections and action planning.
