Guest Post: From a Travel-Grant Recipient (and a Few Words about Electronic Posters)
[This post is from Dr. Shristi Shrestha, Assistant Professor, Department of Dermatology, Nepal Medical College and Teaching Hospital. Thank you for contributing this post! —Barbara]
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to INASP for awarding me an AuthorAID travel grant to attend the 23rd World Congress of Dermatology. This congress was held in Vancouver, Canada, from 8 to 13 June 2015.
I feel very much privileged to have been a part of this excellent scientific gathering. I was glad to present my poster, “Seasonal variation of common skin diseases in pediatric age group—a retrospective study conducted in a medical college of Nepal”, as one of the featured e-posters.
This congress was an excellent platform at which to refresh my knowledge. It also was a valuable forum in which to learn newer aspects in dermatology, which I certainly will now practice.
I also appreciated the chance to see the mesmerizing beautiful city of Vancouver. My sincere thanks once again for giving me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
[Note: Conferences are increasingly displaying electronic posters (e-posters) instead of printed posters. E-poster presenters submit their posters electronically; the posters are then shown on monitors. I plan to say more about e-posters in an upcoming AuthorAID blog post. Meanwhile, for an example of instructions for preparing an e-poster, you can access the e-poster submission guidelines from the congress that Dr. Shristi Shrestha attended.]
