Resource of the Week #204: Some Translations and a Request for More

By Barbara Gastel | Mar. 08, 2015

Hello again. A few days ago I received something from my former visiting scholar FAN Xiaohui (Sophie Fan), who teaches at Xi’an Jiaotong University in China. It consisted of translations of 10 Resource of the Week posts. This set of translations now appears in the AuthorAID Resource Library.

Sophie noted that the translations were by her graduate student GU Xiaodong, who "is majoring in translation and interpretation, with a focus on medicine”. After receiving the translations, Sophie had proofread them and refined the formatting. (Thank you both!)

What a good idea to have a graduate student do this project! The graduate student received valuable experience and now has translations posted online. And the AuthorAID community can benefit from the translations.

At AuthorAID, we’re always seeking translations of our materials. We want to have more items translated into languages now in the Resource Library (Arabic, Chinese, French, Persian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese). And we want to have items translated into more languages (for example, Swahili).

Items for possible translation include AuthorAID presentations, blog posts, and more. If there are items that you might like to translate (or that you might like to have a graduate student translate under your supervision), please contact me at bgastel@inasp.info.

Until the next post—

Barbara
