Resource of the Week #201: Some Resources from AAAS
Hello again. And greetings from San Jose, California, where I’m attending the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
At one event that I attended, some of the speakers described new resources from AAAS. For this week’s resource post, I’ll say a little about these resources.
One resource is a new open-access journal, Science Advances. AAAS publishes this journal, which is for research in all fields of science. This journal was launched on February 12. It charges a high publishing fee, but researchers in developing countries can obtain discounts.
Another resource is a report to inform the general public about climate change. This report—titled “What We Know: The Reality, Risk, and Response to Climate Change”—is available in English and Spanish. The website containing the report also has related material.
The other resource I’ll mention is one that AAAS is still developing. Called Trellis, it’s an online platform through which researchers will be able to communicate and collaborate. Trellis currently is undergoing beta testing. AAAS expects to launch it later this year.
In addition, a speaker noted that videos of some sessions are openly available.
In my next post, I hope to say more about the AAAS annual meeting. Until then—
Barbara
