Resource of the Week #190: The Research4Life Blog
Hello again. This week’s resource is the Research4Life blog.
As you may know, Research4Life consists of 4 programs that give developing countries free or low-cost online access to peer-reviewed academic and professional content. The 4 programs are HINARI, AGORA, OARE, and ARDI.
The Research4Life blog began in June and now has several posts. A colleague at INASP mentioned the newest post, which is titled “Free Digital Tools for Researchers”. This helpful post identifies and describes
- some social media specifically for researchers
- some tools for reference management
- some resources for editing images
- a service for sharing material written in LaTeX
- some tools for visualizing data
- some applications for organizing one’s workflow
All of these digital tools are available free of charge, both to developing-country researchers and to others.
Some of the Research4Life blog posts are infographics. The first post was an infographic about Research4Life, and the second was an infographic on how to read a scientific paper. More recently, the blog featured an infographic on writing research papers.
My thanks to Peter Burnett at INASP for mentioning the post on free digital tools—and thus alerting me to the Research4Life blog. I look forward to seeing further posts from this blog. Perhaps this blog will interest you too.
Until the next post—
Barbara
