Nominate Your Mentor for Recognition!

By Barbara Gastel | Aug. 18, 2014

Have you had an excellent AuthorAID mentor? Did he or she help you to write or revise a paper? Did he or she help you to apply for a grant or prepare a presentation? Did he or she provide other support or guidance?

Recipients of AuthorAID mentoring support have often requested a formal way to recognize and thank mentors. AuthorAID has therefore established a Mentor of the Year award.

This award will go each year to a mentor who has given outstanding support to an early-career researcher. Only AuthorAID mentees can nominate mentors. The mentorship should have occurred within the past 1 or 2 years.

This year, we will have 1 recipient and 2 runners-up. The recipient will receive a certificate and US$300 to spend on books or donate to the charity of his or her choice. The runners-up will each receive US$150 to use for books or a charitable contribution.

To nominate your AuthorAID mentor, please complete the nomination form and send it to authoraid@inasp.info. The deadline is 5:00 p.m. (GMT) on 1 September 2014.

In the form, explain why your mentor deserves the award; please do not exceed 200 words. Also list any papers or other research communications that you have produced with your mentor’s help. Please be specific in your responses.

A selection panel will review the nominations. We plan to announce the recipient and runners-up on the AuthorAID website in early September.

If you’ve had a wonderful AuthorAID mentor, please take the time to nominate him or her. We look forward to the nominations.
