Resource of the Week #162: A Set of Slides in English and Spanish

By Barbara Gastel | May. 17, 2014

Hello again. This week’s resource is a slide set that I read about in the AuthorAID email discussion list. It was mentioned by AuthorAID community member Matt Hodgkinson, associate editor, PLOS ONE.

The resource consists of slides from a writing workshop hosted by the journal PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases. The slides are intended to help young researchers understand the publication process and to guide them in manuscript writing.

Among topics discussed in this 59-slide set are things that editors notice first, the proper structure of a journal article, and techniques that help make writing clear.

The slide set also provides information about PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases and, more generally, the Public Library of Sciences journals.

The slide sets are available in English and Spanish. They can be accessed as PowerPoint files and as PDF files. “The slides are free to use, adapt, and distribute so long as the original source is stated,” Matt wrote.

I encourage you to look at this resource. Also, if you have not signed up for the AuthorAID email discussion list, I encourage you to do so. This list is a good way to learn about resources and funding opportunities, seek answers to questions, and more.

Until the next post—

Barbara
