Resource of the Week #104: Some Lists of Reputable Journals (and a Question for You)
Hello again. As you may recall, the most recent Resource of the Week was a list of questionable journals.
Commenting on the post, an AuthorAID community member noted a list of reputable journals: the Thomson Reuters Master Journal List. This list is of journals indexed by Thomson Reuters. One can search it to see whether specific journals are listed.
Our resources this week are additional lists of reputable journals. To appear in such a list, a journal must meet criteria regarding quality. Some such lists are the following:
- Journals Referenced in the NCBI Databases (from the US National Library of Medicine)
- the list of journals in SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online)
- the lists of journals in the Journals Online (JOL) project
Such lists can be useful to consult when deciding where to submit a paper. To inform the AuthorAID community about other journal lists that can help in this regard, please post a comment.

Resource of the Week is now 2 years old, and we are trying to plan for the next year. Which of the following would you prefer?
- to have Resource of the Week continue as is
- to instead have a monthly Resource Roundup (containing information on a few resources)
- to have occasional posts about resources (as in the early years of the blog) but no weekly or monthly series on the topic
If you have a preference, please express it either by posting a comment or by writing to me at bgastel@cvm.tamu.edu. Other suggestions and comments also are welcome.
Until the next post—
Barbara
