Resource of the Week #153: Slides and Exercises from a Writing Workshop

By Barbara Gastel | Mar. 15, 2014

Hello again. This week’s resource is from AuthorAID community member Dr. Farooq Rathore, a rehabilitation medicine physician in Pakistan.

Last month Dr. Rathore sent me email requesting the slides from my 2013 Intensive Course in Research Writing. He also requested permission to use some of the slides at a workshop. “You will be acknowledged and referenced,” he wrote.

Before the workshop, Dr. Rathore sent me the presentations and exercises that would be used. He wrote: “I would also like you to share and place these slides on the AuthorAID website so that others can also benefit.”

I found the presentations and exercises to be of high quality, with excellent content and attractive designs. They now appear in the AuthorAID Resource Library.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Rathore and Dr. Nasir Mansoor. Among the topics covered were publication ethics, components of a scientific paper, searching the literature, and citing references.

Although the workshop was titled “Making Medical Writing Easy for the Beginners”, much of the content can aid researchers in many fields. And although I’m not a beginner, I learned some things.

Thank you, Dr. Rathore, for sharing these resources. I hope that others also will share in this way.

Until the next post—

Barbara
