Adapting and Sharing AuthorAID Presentations
Greetings again. I hope you’re doing well.
As you may recall, our latest Resource of the Week was a pair of presentations by researcher Sara Gwynn. Sara based this pair on some AuthorAID presentations but made some changes. These changes included the following:
- adding attractive backgrounds
- changing the typography
- starting sections with cleverly designed title slides
- providing some new exercises
- gearing some slides to the audience’s research area
- noting additional resources
Other people also have adapted AuthorAID resources for their own use. We hope that more and more people will do so.
How might you or a colleague start? First look in the AuthorAID Resource Library. To find all presentations, click on “Presentations” (under “Resources”, in the right-hand column). To seek presentations on a specific subject, also click on the appropriate term under “Topic”.
Or, for a PowerPoint file with slides on many AuthorAID topics, you can go to Core Presentations on Research Communication. This slide set can be the basis of an entire workshop. Or you can use part of the set for a single presentation.
The versions of AuthorAID presentations in the Resource Library usually are simple in design, both to minimize file size and to maximize versatility. You can then adapt the presentations to your audience, purpose, and style.
If you give presentations based on AuthorAID materials, we’d appreciate copies. You can send them to me at bgastel@inasp.info or bgastel@cvm.tamu.edu. We and our funders find this information useful. And, with your permission, we might like to feature your presentation.
Until the next post—
Barbara
