Resource of the Week #143: A Pair of Presentations on Research Writing

By Barbara Gastel | Jan. 04, 2014

Hello again. I hope 2014 is starting well for you.

This year, our first Resource of the Week consists of 2 presentations. Let me tell you the story.

Recently I received a message from Sara Gwynn, a consultant researcher, editor, and facilitator in the United Kingdom. Sara previously was director of programs at INASP. She helped establish AuthorAID.

Sara said she was invited to give some talks at Northeast Forestry University in Harbin, China. The talks were to be on writing and publishing papers. Sara was asking me for tips and materials.

In my reply, I suggested topics for Sara to emphasize. I also provided some AuthorAID material that she could use or adapt.

After returning from China, Sara kindly sent me copies of her presentations, which were based largely on AuthorAID materials. With her permission, I’m now sharing them.

The first presentation is titled “20 Tips for Writing and Publishing Journal Articles”. The second (a set of talks for a 2-day workshop) is titled “Writing and Publishing Your Research Article”.

To make the files small, I’ve converted the PowerPoint presentations to PDF handouts. If you’d like the PowerPoint files, please contact me at bgastel@inasp.info.

Thanks, Sara, for sharing these materials!

Until the next post—

Barbara
