Looking for Mentors or Collaborators in a Responsible Way
Greetings from Mumbai, India!
AuthorAID's mentoring scheme is one of the main components of the AuthorAID program. Over the years, many researchers in developing countries have benefited from it.
Our mentoring scheme is open to anyone who has created an account on the website. Because of its open nature, there is the possibility that it may be abused.
It has recently come to our attention that some members of the AuthorAID community have been sending inappropriate requests for mentoring or collaboration to other members. So we would like to provide a couple of suggestions on how to contact mentors or collaborators in a responsible way:
- Approach only those mentors or collaborators who can offer the support you seek. For example, if you're looking for help in a particular subject area, look for mentors in that area.
- Write only a few lines in your first message to a mentor or collaborator. In your first message, introduce yourself and explain what kind of support you would like. Write a personalized message. Do not send a long summary or report of your work in the first message. This may be seen as spam.
When we come across any instance of members spamming others, we may disable those members' accounts.
If you feel anyone has sent you inappropriate messages, please inform us by writing to authoraid@inasp.info. You can also write to this address if you have any questions on how to look for mentors or collaborators.
