Guest Post: From an AuthorAID Travel Grant Recipient and More

By Barbara Gastel | Jul. 08, 2013

[This post is from Dr. Devendra Adhikari, an active member of the AuthorAID community who recently received an AuthorAID travel grant. Thank you! –Barbara]

I recently took part in the International Conference on Material Science and Condensed Matter Physics in Berlin, Germany. The conference was held by the World Academy of Science and Technology on 22–23 May 2013. About 75 participants from different parts of the world took part in the conference. I presented my research results on 22 May 2013. I interacted with researchers from Oman, Poland, Ukraine, India, Korea, Japan, France, and China. I am now in touch with them. I am trying to do my work in collaboration with the other researchers. Attending the conference helped me a lot with this.

I took part and presented my work at the conference through an AuthorAID travel grant. Without this grant it would have been impossible to take part in the conference. I am grateful to AuthorAID.

The AuthorAID library has been emerging as a very important resource for researchers. I took part in the AuthorAID workshop in Kathamandu about 3 years ago, and I myself organized an AuthorAID workshop in Biratnagar, Nepal, with the help of INASP.

Recently, I was invited as a resource person for a training on research writing methodology organized by the Research Division, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. The training was held at Mechi Multiple Campus, Nepal, on 23–24 June 2013.  About 60 participants from different campuses in Nepal took part in the training program. I presented a paper on data analysis, presentation, and interpretation. For this also, I found the AuthorAID resource library very useful. Thanks for providing such resources.
