Resource of the Week #84: From Another AuthorAID

By Barbara Gastel | Nov. 18, 2012

Hello again. As you may know, AuthorAID is a general term. Different projects or programs can use this term in their names.

The post you’re now reading is from the project AuthorAID at INASP. This project is based at the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications. The project is the largest and most general one with AuthorAID in its name. Therefore people often call it simply AuthorAID.

A completely separate project with AuthorAID in its name is AuthorAID in the Eastern Mediterranean (AAEM). According to the AAEM website, AAEM was begun by Karen Shashok, who is a translator and editorial consultant in Spain, and Dr. Farhad Handjanai, of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran.

AAEM, which is a volunteer project, provides manuscript editing to researchers in Eastern Mediterranean countries. It also gives researchers in these countries training in writing about and publishing research. In addition, it gives guidance to editors.

The AAEM website is available to people throughout the world. This website includes links to materials on research writing and related topics. It also has links to websites of organizations concerned with research publication. Wherever you are located, you might find this website useful.

Until the next post—

Barbara
