Back from Nepal
Greetings again. I hope that all is going well.
I wrote this post while journeying home from Nepal, where last week I facilitated 2 AuthorAID workshops. The first was a research writing workshop, held March 14–17. The second was a train-the-trainers workshop, held March 18.
My co-facilitator for both workshops was Ravi Murugesan, who recently began working for AuthorAID. Ravi is from India and has a master’s degree in engineering. Before joining AuthorAID, he worked for an editing company in India.
Ravi’s main work at AuthorAID will be to develop e-learning materials. Ravi also will participate in AuthorAID in other ways, such as giving workshops.
At the writing workshop in Nepal, Ravi gave a presentation on tables and figures. He also gave a delightful and insightful presentation on his first experience writing and publishing a journal article. Both presentations are available in the AuthorAID Resource Library.
Like other AuthorAID workshops, those in Nepal included small-group discussions, followed by presentations by the groups. One presentation, on designing PowerPoint slides, was so helpful and enjoyable that (with permission) I have added it to the AuthorAID Resource Library. I encourage you to look at it.
My presentations from the research writing workshop and train-the-trainers workshop also appear in the AuthorAID Resource Library. Please feel free to use them.
I thank the organizers of the workshops for the fine arrangements. I also thank the workshop participants—whose knowledge, diligence, thoughtfulness, enthusiasm, and creativity added much to the workshops.
Wishing everyone a good week— Barbara
