Guest Posting: 'Thank You' from AuthorAID!

By Barbara Gastel | Jan. 26, 2009

[Note: This posting is by Julie Walker, who is responsible for coordinating the AuthorAID project at INASP. Thank you, Julie, for all you do!]

Chinese New Year is celebrated across the world today. 2009 is the Chinese year of the ox, and according to Chinese astrology, people born this year are dependable, great organizers, loyal, patient, strong, and responsible, as well as having great leadership skills. These qualities could also apply to the AuthorAID mentors.

Since early last year, dedicated volunteer mentors have been working with researchers  from our partner organizations (The International Foundation for Science, TDR, and National University of Rwanda) to support them in writing and publishing their research papers. AuthorAID would like to thank them warmly for their ongoing dedication and support. We would also like to thank all the people who have volunteered to be mentors and are currently waiting to be matched with a suitable researcher.

A full online mentoring system will be available when the new and improved website launches next month. Once it is available, mentors and mentees from any country and any institution in the world will be able to use the site to match themselves with an appropriate mentoring partner. In the meantime, if you or anyone you know would like to become a mentor for the project, please either e-mail us at authoraid@inasp.info or sign up on the website https://www.authoraid.info/join_form .
