More Grants to Attend a Research Writing Course

By Barbara Gastel | Nov. 05, 2011

Greetings again. Today I have good news to share.

As you may recall, AuthorAID provided a grant to attend a summer 2011 intensive course in research writing. Many people applied. After a careful selection process, Dr. Haroon Mohamed Haniffa from Sri Lanka was chosen to attend.

I’m pleased to announce that AuthorAID will give two people grants to attend the 2012 intensive course. Instructions for applying are now available. The application deadline is 16 December 2011.

This time, the application form is to be filled out on SurveyMonkey, at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/authoraid_2012_summer_course_grants. Applicants should be ready to complete the form in a single session, as partial applications cannot be saved.

To be ready, we suggest that applicants first read the PDF copy of the application form and draft their responses to the essay items. One good approach is to write the essay responses in a program such as Microsoft Word and then paste them into the form.

As before, applicants must be citizens of, reside in, and work in AuthorAID partner countries or Sida priority countries. More information, including a list of eligible countries, appears in the application instructions.

People from other countries can take the intensive course if they meet the admission requirements (for example, regarding English proficiency) and have funding to cover the costs. Information on applying directly for the course is available from Dr. Roberto Tuda Rivas.

We look forward to receiving applications for the grants.

Wishing you a good week— Barbara
