Resource of the Week #7: A Video on Strategies for Publishing
Hello! This week I’m featuring a resource that a graduate student of mine recommended. It’s a video titled “Publishing Strategies: The When-Where-What of Scientific Publishing”.
This video, which is from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, is of a panel discussion. The speakers are researchers. The moderator is the director of the Department of Scientific Publications.
The graduate student who recommended this video stated:
Some of the topics the panelists discuss are when to publish your paper, how to choose the right journal for your paper, and how to decide authorship. I especially liked the discussions on how to respond to reviewers' comments and how to write an attractive cover letter for your paper.
MD Anderson is one of relatively few research institutions with an editorial office to help researchers. Editors in this office help researchers with such items as refining scientific papers and refining grant proposals.
This editorial office also teaches scientific writing to international researchers studying or working at MD Anderson. Those involved have published articles on the needs they have found and the teaching they have done.
I hope that more institutions will start such editorial offices.
Until the next post— Barbara
