Resource of the Week #98: “Online Tools for Researchers”
Hello again. Recently AuthorAID team member Ravi Murugesan added a new resource to the AuthorAID Resource Library. After looking at this resource, I decided to make it our Resource of the Week.
This resource, which is titled “Online Tools for Researchers”, describes itself as “a list of online ‘web 2.0’ tools, designed for researchers”. The list currently contains more than 50 resources. And it seems to be growing.
Conveniently, the list is broken into several parts. A part that might interest many AuthorAID members lists tools for sharing items such as papers, figures, videos, and slide presentations.
There is also a well-developed part on social networking sites for researchers. The part on tools for writing and publishing doesn’t seem quite as well developed yet. Maybe the person in charge of the list could get some ideas from AuthorAID!
The other parts of the list focus on the following topics: crowdsourcing tools, lab management tools, and tools for finding expertise.
The resource appears on the Connected Researchers website, which is from a postdoctoral fellow at MIT. The site also includes a blog about such resources and related topics. This blog too can serve as a resource.
Until the next post—
