New Recipients of AuthorAID Workshop Grants

By Barbara Gastel | May. 14, 2012

Greetings from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where I’m facilitating an AuthorAID workshop on proposal writing.

Just as I was about to board the plane, I received e-mail stating that the new recipients of AuthorAID workshop grants had been confirmed. I’m pleased to introduce the 4 recipients:

  • Mr. Kul Prasad Limbu (Lecturer, Tribhuvan University, Biratnagar, Nepal), for a workshop to instruct master’s degree students in the biological sciences on preparing research proposals, writing and publishing scientific papers, applying biostatistics, and using the citation-and-referencing software EndNote
  • Dr. Moola Mutondo-Chafilwa, (Head, Department of Biological Sciences, Copperbelt University, Kitwe, Zambia), for a workshop on research and publication—with sessions on research communication and on software useful for research—for female academicians and researchers at Copperbelt University and nearby research institutions
  • Dr. Zachariah Ngalo (Dean, School of Science and Technology, University of Eastern Africa, Baraton, Kenya, and Editor-in-Chief, Baraton Interdisciplinary Research Journal), for a workshop on research writing, editing, and peer reviewing (facilitator: Dr. Pamela Marinda, Regional Coordinator–East Africa, Information Training and Outreach Centre for Africa)
  • Mr. Henry Tumwijukye (Deputy Director, Administration and Grants, Makerere University–Johns Hopkins University Research Collaboration, Kampala, Uganda), for a workshop titled “Empowering Upcoming Scientific Investigators to Increase Research Publications” (facilitator: Professor James Tumwine, Makerere University College of Health Sciences)

We congratulate the recipients, and we commend all who submitted applications.

AuthorAID looks forward to providing additional workshop grants later this year. Please watch for the call for applications.

Until the next post—

Barbara
