Resource of the Week #105: A Gateway to Free Online Content
Hello again. This week’s resource is one that I recently heard about on the radio.
It’s a website titled Open Culture. According to its “About Us” section, its goal is to bring together “high-quality cultural & educational media for the worldwide lifelong learning community.” The items that it links to are free.
Among items to which Open Culture has links are the following:
- eBooks: There are links to 400 free eBooks. Many of the books are classics of literature.
- Audio Books: For those who like to listen to books, 500 free audio books are available through this site. Again, there are literary classics and more.
- Online Courses: The site includes links to more than 700 free online courses. There are courses in many fields.
- Certificate Courses/MOOCs: Another part of the website has links to 300 massive open online courses (MOOCs). Many of the MOOCs provide certificates or statements of completion.
- Language-Learning Materials: The site has links to materials for learning 40 languages.
- Science Videos: This section has links to “125 great science videos”.
In addition, Open Culture has an active blog, with links to some very enjoyable short videos.
Until the next post—
Barbara
