From the AuthorAID Train-the-Trainers Workshop
Greetings again. I hope that all is going well.
I’m back in the United States, and things are going busily for me. Tomorrow I start giving a 3-week research writing workshop, mainly for researchers from Mexico. I also have summer-school teaching and other work.
As planned, this week my blog post is about the AuthorAID Train-the-Trainers Workshop on Teaching Research Writing. This workshop was in Tanzania on June 25, after a 4-day AuthorAID research writing workshop.
As you might have seen, the AuthorAID Resource Library now includes the presentations from the train-the-trainers workshop:
- Basics of Learning and Teaching
- Giving Lectures
- Leading Discussions
- Giving AuthorAID Workshops
- Other Teaching Options Using AuthorAID Materials
In addition, I’ve included an exercise that entails planning a 1-day workshop, a 2-day workshop, and a 12-session course on research writing.
I’m glad that after attending AuthorAID workshops, many people share what they have learned. I hope that the train-the-trainers workshop and the materials from it will facilitate such sharing.
Speaking of teaching: As some of you probably have seen, AuthorAID’s e-mail discussion list has been quite active in the past few days. I'm glad that people are using the discussion list. And I’m glad that the topics discussed have included teaching scientific writing.
If you haven’t yet joined the discussion list, I encourage you to do so. If you have questions about joining, please contact Bernard Appiah, the AuthorAID graduate assistant. I appreciate Bernard’s hard work to promote the discussion list.
Wishing you a good week— Barbara
