Resource of the Week #89: A Writing Book for Agricultural and Other Researchers

By Barbara Gastel | Dec. 23, 2012

Hello again. Our current Resource of the Week was mentioned by an AuthorAID community member.

The resource is a new (2012) edition of the book Scientific Writing for Agricultural Research Scientists—A Training Resource Manual. It is accessible in PDF format.

This book includes some distinctive content. For example, it has a chapter on reporting statistical results. It also has a chapter on publishing an article in an online journal. And there is a section on conducting training courses in scientific writing.

Among the other topics are choosing a journal, writing a scientific paper, preparing tables, using illustrations, giving presentations, designing posters, and communicating to non-technical audiences.

The examples in this book suit it especially well for agricultural researchers. However, most of the content also can aid researchers in other fields.

This book is from the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA). It is edited by Anthony Youdeowei, Paul Stapleton, and Rodger Obubo.

Many thanks to the editors, authors, and publisher for preparing this book. Thanks also to the AuthorAID member who mentioned the book.

Do you have resources to suggest? If so, please post a comment or send me e-mail.

Until the next post—

Barbara
