Resource of the Week #91: Expert Edge—A Resource for Writing and Publishing

By Barbara Gastel | Jan. 05, 2013

Hello again. I hope that 2013 has started well for you.

Soon after the year began, I received e-mail telling me about a resource called Expert Edge. Because this resource may help many AuthorAID members, I’m featuring it as a Resource of the Week.

Expert Edge describes itself as “a central resource for helpful information about writing and publishing scholarly manuscripts”. It contains a blog, an author resources section, and external links.

Of particular interest, the blog includes an Editing Tip of the Week. Recent topics of these tips include

  • reducing word counts of documents that are too long
  • use of singular and plural forms of abbreviations
  • differences between American and British English

Among items in the resources section are

  • downloadable materials, such as a sample cover letter
  • a glossary of English language terms (for example, terms regarding grammar and punctuation)
  • material on open access publishing
  • a list of major style guides (also called style manuals)

In addition, there are links to several resources, including AuthorAID.

Expert Edge is from American Journal Experts (AJE), a company that has funded some AuthorAID workshop grants. Thank you, AJE!

Until the next post—

Barbara
