Resource of the Week #96: A Group of Writing Resources from Duke
Hello again. This week’s resource is one that AuthorAID member Lenny Rhine mentioned to me. It’s a group of handouts and other resources compiled by the Duke University writing program.
This group of materials has several sections. The first contains handouts and links on writing as a process. A part that intrigued me was on how one’s personality type affects one’s writing process.
The second section provides links to many resources for non-native speakers of English. One is titled the ESL Common Errors Workbook.
The third section provides guidance on more than 30 genres of writing. Among the genres are abstracts, ethnographies (which are common in anthropology), and research proposals. The guides tend to be brief but often have links to other resources.
Another section has links to guides on writing in specific disciplines. Included are guides to writing in biology, business, and many fields in the humanities and social sciences.
This resource also contains a section titled Working with Sources and one titled Grammar and Reference.
Although the materials in this resource tend to be primarily for students, they can also aid others. Thank you, Lenny, for noting this resource.
Until the next post—
