Guest Post: AuthorAID on Twitter
[This post is from Alejandra (Alex) Arreola-Triana, who translates the AuthorAID blog posts into Spanish and tweets about them too. Thank you, Alex! —Barbara]
If you are registered on the AuthorAID website (and if you are not registered, I encourage you to do so), you might receive our e-mail updates about our blog posts and resources. Now there is another way you can receive these pieces of news: our Twitter account (@AuthorAID).
As some of you know, Twitter is a social networking and microblogging website that lets people send very brief messages—140 characters long or less. It is one of the most visited websites in the world, with almost 200 million active users.
As I write this post, 170 followers receive our news and updates in their Twitter feeds. Because we also retweet information that can be relevant to the AuthorAID community, our followers also receive information from entities such as the Council of Science Editors, Edanz Journal Advisor, and INASP (AuthorAID's parent organization).
Thanks to our followers and their retweets, @AuthorAID has reached more than 720 people. Of course, we would love to see that number grow. If more people follow us or forward our messages, then AuthorAID's resources and tips will benefit more researchers.
If you don’t have a Twitter account, consider obtaining one. Instructions for doing so, as well as more information about Twitter, can be accessed at www.twitter.com. Besides receiving news about AuthorAID, you can learn about other people or organizations doing similar work.
And, if you have a Twitter account, please follow @AuthorAID, and help us spread the word!
