Resource of the Week #32: What Time Is It in . . . ?

By Barbara Gastel | Nov. 18, 2011

Hello again. This time the Resource of the Week is a website that I often use.

Like many others in the AuthorAID community, I communicate with colleagues in a variety of countries. I enjoy doing so. But doing so can pose challenges.

One challenge is that people in different countries commonly are in different time zones. Thus, for example, it can be hard to find a good time for a Skype conversation with a colleague in a different country. And arranging a conference call with colleagues in several countries can be very difficult.

Fortunately, some websites can help one find out the corresponding times in different places. The website I use for this purpose is the World Clock Meeting Planner.

When I indicate various cities, this website generates a table showing the corresponding times throughout the day for each place. Thus, for example, I can see that when it’s 8 a.m. in Houston, it’s 9 a.m. in Havana, 2 p.m. in Accra, and 8 p.m. in Dhaka.

Do you have a favorite website for this purpose? If so, please note it in a comment.

Until the next post— Barbara
