A Resource-ful Week
Greetings again. I hope you had a good week.
This week, I learned of 3 resources that you might find helpful.
To begin: I received a message from Jose Sergio Hleap Lozano, a biologist who had attended the AuthorAID workshop in Colombia. He wrote to tell me about a website that he found helpful.
This website, titled The Dissertation Writer’s Toolkit, is designed to help graduate students (and others) be more productive and feel less stressed. Among the topics it discusses are avoiding writer’s block, revising a dissertation, and living a balanced life (rather than spending all the time working or feeling guilty about not working). Thank you, Jose Sergio Hleap Lozano!
Later in the week, when reading the daily postings from the magazine The Scientist, I came across an item titled “When English Isn’t Your Native Tongue”. It asked, “Got tips or resources for scientists trying to write grants and papers in a language that's not their first?”
I clicked on the link and found several messages presenting advice and suggesting resources. I also wrote a message—introducing AuthorAID. If English isn’t your native language (or even if it is), consider taking a look.
The end of the week, Julie Walker at INASP forwarded from a colleague a news release announcing the launch of the Online Guide to Open Access Journals Publishing. This guide can help in planning, setting up, launching, publishing, and managing open-access journals. Thank you, Julie Walker!
Do you have resources to suggest? If so, please post a comment or contact me.
Thanks! —Barbara
