Resource of the Week #18: A Book in Spanish on Scientific Writing
Hello again! This week’s resource is one that graduate assistant Alejandra (Alex) Arreola Triana mentioned.
This resource, a book on scientific writing, is titled Manual de Redacción Científica. It is by José A. Mari Mutt, professor of biology at the University of Puerto Rico. It is freely accessible online.
The resource, which is in Spanish, has four main sections: one on basics, one on common errors in writing, one on parts of a scientific paper, and one on preparing and publishing a paper. Each section has multiple subsections. All can be easily accessed from the homepage.
In addition, the resource includes a reference list. It first lists printed sources and then lists online sources. Links are provided.
This resource includes many examples. Most are in Spanish, and some are in English. In places, examples of poor wording are followed by examples of improved wording.
Researchers whose native language is Spanish might find this resource very useful. In addition to helping researchers to write and edit journal articles in Spanish, it can help them to do so in English and other languages.
Thank you, Alex. And thank you, Professor José A. Mari Mutt!
Until the next post— Barbara
