Resource of the Week #118: The On-course Search Portal for Finding Biomedical Education Opportunities
[This Resource of the Week post is from AuthorAID team member Bernard Appiah. Thank you, Bernard! —Barbara]
Last month, I attended the 8th World Conference of Science Journalists in Helsinki, Finland.
The conference was held on 24–28 June 2013. One of the plenary sessions I attended was titled "Online biomed tool for science journalists, too?"
In this session, Tony Payton, a lecturer at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, introduced an online biomedical resource portal called on-course.
It turned out that the resource was especially relevant to biomedical professionals.
Payton discussed on-course as a search tool for identifying courses and programs in Europe.
One can go to this portal to identify postgraduate opportunities such as continuing professional development courses, master's degree programs, and PhD programs.
For each educational opportunity, information is provided on the following:
- The institution and country where the course is offered
- The language of instruction
- The tuition and the availability of scholarships, if any
If you are in a biomedical field, I encourage you to look at this resource.
