Resource of the Week #33: Directory of Open Access Journals
Hello again. Many members of the AuthorAID community want to find open access journals. A valuable resource is this regard is the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
DOAJ was established in 2003. At that time, it contained information on 350 journals. Today, it has information on more than 7,000 journals, from more than 100 countries. Links to the journals are provided.
DOAJ is now available in English, French, Greek, and Turkish. On the DOAJ website, users can search for journals, for example by topic or by country of publication. Users also can search for articles; the searching covers nearly 700,000 articles in more than 3,000 of the journals.
Another option is to browse DOAJ by subject. The 17 listed subjects range widely. Among them are agriculture and food sciences, business and economics, health sciences, languages and literatures, law and political science, physics and astronomy, and technology and engineering.
Interestingly, DOAJ includes a world map showing the locations of people who visited DOAJ that day. The last time I looked, there were visitors from around the world.
If you haven’t seen DOAJ, I encourage you to look at it.
Until the next post— Barbara
