Resource of the Week #126: Peering at the Peer Review Congresses

By Barbara Gastel | Sep. 08, 2013

Hello again.

As I write this post, the Seventh International Congress on Peer Review and Biomedical Publication is about to begin.

As shown in the program, this congress features research on peer review and other aspects of publication in journals. Among these aspects are authorship, citation, bias, data sharing, and guidelines for reporting.

I wish I could attend this congress, but I must miss it. Fortunately, though, someone is blogging from the peer review congress. I’m featuring his congress blog, titled Peer Review Report, as part of our resource of the week.

The blogger is Don Harting, a freelance medical writer and editor. Don also is the managing editor of the Board of Life Sciences newsletter. I look forward to his remaining posts.

The peer review congresses occur every 4 years. This year’s congress is in Chicago. Previous sites include Prague, Barcelona, and Vancouver.

Articles from the second through fourth peer review congresses appeared in the journal JAMA. Programs and abstracts from the third through sixth congresses are available.

These articles, programs, and abstracts are the other part of our resource of the week.

I hope you’ll find this week’s resource of interest. Until the next post—

Barbara
