Resource of the Week #53: Some Resources from IDRC/CRDI
Hello again. Welcome to the second year of Resource of the Week.
This week I received e-mail from someone at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC)/Centre de recherches pour le développement international (CRDI). He mentioned 3 resources that can help users of AuthorAID.
One resource is Knowledge to Policy: Making the Most of Development Research. This book is available online. It contains many case studies and presents conclusions based on them.
The case studies come from a variety of regions. They regard a variety of fields, including trade and finance, water management, and health and education reform.
One conclusion in the book is that “communication is essential for achieving policy influence”. The book includes guidance in this regard.
The second resource is Writing for Change: An Interactive Guide. This resource can be accessed as an e-book. It has 3 main sections: “Effective writing: core skills”, “Writing for science”, and “Writing for advocacy”.
Some examples of topics in this book are constructing effective paragraphs, defining one’s main message, and understanding advocacy.
The third resource is the IDRC communications toolkit for researchers. This resource was discussed in an earlier AuthorAID blog post. I recommend it again.
Until the next post—
