Resource of the Week #62: A Handbook on Statistics

By Barbara Gastel | Jun. 18, 2012

Hello again, and welcome to this resource post.

Our current Resource of the Week is one that I learned of a few days ago through an e-mail discussion list. The resource is titled The Little Handbook of Statistical Practice. The author is statistician Gerard E. Dallal, PhD.

This handbook addresses a variety of major topics in statistics. Among them are confidence intervals, tests of significance, sample-size calculations, simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, and analysis of variance.

One part that I appreciated was a reprint (with permission) of a paper on what to do about outliers. I found this paper very readable, perhaps because it was clearly organized, was simply worded, and included examples.

This resource also includes links to some other resources on statistics.

Do you have resources to suggest? Are there resources that you learned about through e-mail discussion lists? If so, please let me know. I’m always seeking good resources to feature as Resources of the Week.

Until the next post—

Barbara
