By Barbara Gastel | Jul. 24, 2010

[Note: This week’s blog post is from Katie Metzler, who is an editor at SAGE, a major publisher of research. In the post, Katie introduces a research-methods resource that could interest many AuthorAID members. Thank you, Katie! –Barbara]

Do you have questions about research methods? Do you want to discuss research methods with others in your field?

Then consider signing up for Methodspace (www.methodspace.com), a free resource from SAGE.

Methodspace is a social network dedicated to discussing research methods. It allows researchers to connect with others using the same techniques or methodologies.

As a member of Methodspace, you can

  • blog to share information about your research activities,
  • use the forums to ask questions,
  • share your research problems,
  • offer your advice and support to other users, and
  • set up or join groups about specific topics or disciplines.

Topics of groups on Methodspace range from broad ones (such as mixed methods or qualitative inquiry) to highly specialized ones (such as performative social science or sequence analysis). Methodspace focuses largely on research methods for the social sciences, but some of the content also can aid researchers in other fields.

Methodspace was launched in March 2009 with the aim of becoming a resource for use around the world. Since then, it has attracted more than 6,800 members, including students, university teachers, and professional researchers from more than 120 countries.
