Resource of the Week #37: An Online Textbook of Statistics
Hello again. I hope you’ve been having a good week.
At workshops and elsewhere, members of the AuthorAID community often say they want more information about study design and statistics. Our new Resource of the Week might help in that regard.
This week in an e-mail discussion list, someone asked whether anyone could recommend a reference book on statistics. Immediately someone mentioned a statistics textbook that is available for free online.
This textbook, which is from StatSoft (a company selling statistical software), contains more than 40 modules, each of which is like a chapter. There also is a glossary of statistical terms.
Topics of modules range from “Elementary Concepts” and “Basic Statistics” to a variety of relatively advanced statistical techniques. Among the modules that might interest many AuthorAID members are those on experimental design and graphical techniques.
Are you familiar with this statistics textbook? Do you think it should be added to the AuthorAID Resource Library? Are there other statistics resources that we should consider adding to our resource library?
To answer any of these questions, please either post a comment or contact me individually via the AuthorAID website.
Until the next post— Barbara
