By Barbara Gastel | Mar. 29, 2012

Hello. We are pleased to announce the recipients of the current round of AuthorAID travel grants. The recipients are

    • Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, associate professor, Bangladesh Agricultural University
    • Mr. Ridwan Berihu Raju, lecturer, Semera University, Ethiopia
    • Mr. Charles Teta, research fellow, National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe

AuthorAID travel grants give researchers funding to attend conferences for which they have had presentations accepted. The grants are very competitive: In the current round, 3 grants were available, but more than 40 completed applications arrived.

Grant recipient Alam will speak at the 86th Annual Conference of the Agricultural Economics Society, to be held 16–18 April in the United Kingdom. He will present an analysis regarding international and domestic markets for rice during the time of agricultural trade liberalization in Bangladesh.

Recipient Raju will give a presentation at the 2012 conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research, which will take place 15–19 July in South Africa. His presentation will center on a case study of telecommunications in Ethiopia.

Recipient Teta will speak at the Joint 6th Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) World Congress and SETAC Europe 22nd Annual Meeting, to be held 20–24 May in Germany. He will present research about endocrine-disrupting chemicals as environmental contaminants in Zimbabwe.

The grant recipients have noted that their participation in the conferences will benefit not only themselves but also others, such as their colleagues and students.

Congratulations to the recipients!
