With Best Wishes for the New Year
Greetings again. The New Year is approaching, and so this post will be my last of 2011.
The past year has been a good year for AuthorAID. Our community has grown. So has our resource library. We’ve had more and more blog posts—and more and more comments on them. Our workshops have multiplied as attendees have given workshops of their own.
Of course, many of us come from cultures that observe New Year’s on dates other than January 1. Indeed, we have a variety of calendars, assigning different numbers to the current year.
For international publication of research, though, most of us use the calendar in which 2012 will soon begin. Also, many of us have the custom of making New Year’s resolutions—in other words, of promising to do better in some ways in the year that is starting.
One idea is to make a resolution relating to international publication of research (or, more broadly, to communicating with colleagues in other countries). Here are 3 fairly easy possibilities:
- to spend 15 minutes per day doing reading in a foreign language that you’d like to know better
- to set aside an hour each week for writing
- if you’re relatively new to AuthorAID, each week to read a past AuthorAID blog post that you haven’t yet read (All AuthorAID blog posts are archived in the News section of the AuthorAID website.)
Wishing you, your families, and your students/teachers/colleagues an excellent 2012—
Barbara
